Vancouver’s Sikh population will be celebrating at this year’s Vaisakhi Parade on Saturday, April 15 – and everyone is invited.
It will be a day that marks both the New Year and the anniversary of one of Sikhism’s most important events, the establishment of Khalsa in 1699. Close to 350,000 people are thought to have attended last year’s Vaisakhi Parade, making it the biggest parade in Vancouver.
Parade-goers can enjoy East Indian music, thousands of people in beautiful traditional clothing, and free food including curry lunches, ice cream, and more tasty treats.
This year’s Vaisakhi Parade will start at the Ross Street Temple at 11 am, then head along Marine Drive and turn up Main Street and 49th Avenue, before returning to the temple.
