team tuesday: Asad Lalji

Meet Asad, a new member of our growing advisor team. Learn 12 fun things about Asad including what led him to a career in real estate, his favourite outdoor space, and a stand-out travel memory. 

What led to a career in real estate?
I love being out and about and meeting new people. I derive great satisfaction from helping my clients; nothing beats having a happy client!

What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I can ride a motorbike.  

A song you can sing word for word?
I can only hum a few words to many songs, but with my voice, that's a blessing for everyone else!

What brings you the most joy?
Hiking the trails all around Greater Vancouver.

Your favourite thing to splurge on?
Runners and track pants. 

Best outdoor space in the city?
Stanley Park is the jewel in Vancouver's crown. I love running around the seawall because you get a new view at every turn. It's truly an amazing space in the heart of the city. 

A personal mantra you live by?
Be kind.

A movie you would highly recommend?
Avatar.

A stand-out travel memory?
A safari trip to the Ngoro Ngoro Crater National Park in Tanzania. It is a spectacular sight to see all the wild animals living together yet free within the crater.

A charity you feel passionate about?
World Partnership Walk, an annual fundraiser in Vancouver (among other Canadian cities) to support development programs in Africa and Asia that improve access to quality education and health, increase food security, create economic opportunities, and more. 

Most memorable job prior to real estate?
Working with my dad at his hardware store. 

One improvement you'd like to see this city make?
Provide more rehab centres for the homeless in the downtown Eastside. It is not just poverty but drug addition and mental illness where it is essential to have adequate monitoring and support.
