1865 Apache Circle, Palm Springs CA
In 1957 the Alexander Construction Company with architect William Krisel unveiled Twin Palms, the first truly modern neighborhood in Palm Springs. Using post and beam construction and a variety of rooflines, Krisel imparted a unique, custom look to these homes. They were a sales sensation and the company went on to build many more, influencing other builders with this formula. Of the 9 elevations initially designed by Krisel, the butterfly roof is probably his most iconic. Only 12 of this spectacular design of butterfly roof were ever built, all in Twin Palms. The former house of Joe Dunas, a partner with the Alexanders in all their Palm Springs projects, this home is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac on an extra large lot and is canted to the southwest which affords it the most spectacular mountain views. Inside, a thoughtful renovation using terrazo tile floors and exquisite furniture quality kitchen and bath cabinets and warm wooden walls brings it up do date, but with a vintage, authentic feel. This is the epitome of Palm Springs Style. Featured in the book William Krisel's Palm Springs. Virtual Tour
