honouring our 2023 leaders

Our 2023 rennie leaders are comprised of our 41 top producing rennie advisors both within our brokerage and the industry. While each advisor has honed their craft and built their business in very different ways—some over a few years, others over decades—the common thread in this remarkable group is a proficiency in resilience.

We are honoured to recognize our top-performing advisors of 2023. Through their deep market understanding, leadership, and dedication to our clients and team, they are growing the future of thoughtful real estate.

We couldn’t be more proud to stand with them on this journey.

Leaders often remark that their ability to adapt to change in a dynamic real estate industry is a cornerstone of their accomplishments. We asked our rennie leaders to share their insights on how they’ve been able to embrace change and maintain their resilience and motivation through it all.

On finding an affirmation to guide your year
Kim Taylor: My guiding principle throughout the last year has been a simple yet powerful affirmation: 'It always works out in the end.' This mantra has not only been a source of comfort but also a reminder that, no matter the complexities or uncertainties faced, there's a path forward. By anchoring my thoughts in this belief, I've navigated challenges with a more balanced perspective, finding solace in the idea that every difficulty is a stepping stone towards resolution.

On embracing a learner’s mindset
Charlie Kim: During times of uncertainty and difficulty, I reminded myself that challenges are inevitable but they also present opportunities for learning, adaptation, and personal development. By embracing this mindset, I was able to approach obstacles with resilience and optimism, focusing on the potential for positive outcomes and growth even in the face of adversity. This perspective empowered me to find silver linings, seek solutions, and emerge stronger from difficult situations.

On the consistency you control influencing the things you can’t
Jason Lai: Maintaining a positive mindset for me, stems from spiritualism and my life anchors. As our business can sometimes be very demanding and volatile; having consistency outside of work has helped me stay grounded, disciplined, and positive, in or out of the office. I believe we can create optimism and motivation through daily positive practice, regardless of how bad things may be. My daily practice includes exercise, meditation, and self-reflection.

On maintaining a positive frame of mind
Geoff Taylor: At any moment of the day, my phone can ring and completely change the path for my entire year. It’s a very unpredictable business, so you need to be ready for whatever comes your way.

On embracing change
Brett Jones: Change is inevitable and allowing myself to be open minded allows me to see opportunities when there is instability.

On showing up for your clients with consistency
Matt Stone: When you have the responsibility of helping someone sell or buy their home, I feel like you’d better be doing all you can to help make it happen for them.

On how understanding yourself impacts your business
Meg McLean: We are always learning and striving to better ourselves. Understanding change and curating it to fit our business and lives is how we can produce more with less effort.

On maintaining motivation through the peaks and valleys
Salina Kai: I always tell myself I am completely replaceable. In these times, where everyone knows multiple good realtors, I always remind myself that it's a privilege someone has chosen me to represent them.

On welcoming the seasons of change
Nagib Karim: Change is meant to push you outside of your comfort zone. Embrace it and the growth that comes with it.

On coming back to perseverance
Belinda Grant: In challenging times, I stay optimistic and motivated in real estate by focusing on long-term goals, celebrating small victories, and maintaining a proactive approach. I also find inspiration in the success stories of clients who have achieved their real estate goals despite obstacles, reminding myself that perseverance pays off in the end. Additionally, staying connected with a supportive network of colleagues and mentors helps me stay motivated and navigate through the peaks and valleys with a positive mindset.

On the power of a shift in mindset
Natalie Genest: A shift in my mindset is what allowed me to achieve rennie leaders this year for the first time. Mindset has become one of the most important aspects of my business and my life. I am intentional with what I “feed” my brain from what I read, what podcasts I listen to, who I spend time with, and my inner dialogue.

On turning change into power
D Kevin Jones: Experience it, feel it, and speak to it. I help advise clients because I see more data and transactions than they do. I explain what I see and, in turn, they can interpret how to navigate. Adapt or die – those that can adapt, survive.

On optimism through challenging times
Caronne Marino: The market in Whistler has been challenging this past year, more so than in the last decade for me. Staying calm and embracing the times, and reminding myself that the market will improve has helped.

On the power of choosing your perspective
Eric Zamora: Viewing valleys as opportunities for growth instead of seeing them as setbacks. Revisiting goals and setting new ones to maintain focus. Lastly, prioritizing self care activities such as fitness and family time to recharge and maintain strong energy.

On where she finds her strength
Carleigh Hofman: By keeping my eyes on the goal and remembering the places I aspire to reach, is where I find the strength to persevere through any challenge that comes my way; which in turn makes me more knowledgeable and more resilient to change and obstacles.

On finding the clients that resonate with your style
Katie McLachlan: During the tough times, I try to shake it off. I am not going to be the right fit for everyone, but I just keep doing my best for the clients who I work with. They are who I am here for.

On his mantra for a slower season
Hanson Lu: Stay active in a quiet market.

On sharing the wise words behind his momentum
Rob Breckwoldt: Relationships over reels, say ‘no’ for a better ‘yes’, and always hand sign your cards.

On staying loyal to your approach
Dal Milin: When it comes to the real estate market, regardless of whether it is booming or quiet, how I approach every client stays the same. I will ask the same questions to myself as well as the client: 1) What is the ultimate goal with this purchase? 2) How long do they plan to keep the home? 3) Is this financially doable for the client? 4) Is there potential for future growth? 5) Are we paying the market value price based on current conditions? 6) Overall, is this a good investment? Asking these questions allows me to stay consistent with my service, core values, and the duty I feel I have towards my clients. Whether the market is ‘hot’ or ‘cold’, staying consistent allows me to assist my clients to the best of my ability.

On maintaining a positive mindset regardless of the conditions
Mike Ross: Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.

On making space for personal growth in the quiet moments
Ester Hsieh: The real estate journey is also like living on a roller coaster ride, always hustling. We should be happy to have available time to invest in upgrading ourselves and work on our marketing in preparation for the busy days. Rome wasn't built in a day!
