A two-bedroom apartment in Vancouver now costs close to $3,000, according to a new report made public this week.
The average monthly cost of a two-bedroom listing in Vancouver is $2,915, while the average monthly cost of a one-bedroom is $1,828, according to the monthly rent report.
Those prices put Vancouver in first place for most expensive two-bedrooms and in fourth place for one-bedroom listings, out of 30 Canadian cities.
The national rent report, released by Rentals.ca, compiles the monthly rental cost for properties listed for rent in April and provides a snapshot of current rental stock and asking prices.
According to the report, B.C. also has the third highest monthly average rent for all property types at $1,682, just behind Ontario and Northwest Territories.
While the report lists a slight dip in the average median monthly rent for the second consecutive month in Canada, B.C. continues to see its average asking rent increase, with a 4.4 per cent increase month-over-month. It is the second highest monthly increase among all provinces in April.
B.C. is also found to have the highest share of one-bedroom units, making up 46 per cent of its rental stock, but the lowest percentage of three-bedroom units at just seven per cent.
